Menopause is a natural occurrence in every woman’s life, characterized by the waning of ovarian hormone production. There is often confusion among women about what is normal during this time. Every woman is different. We prefer to view menopause as a biological event, supported by a great deal of health-related information and preventive treatment options. Informed decision-making during this time allows a woman to benefit in ways that will improve her health throughout the coming years. Menopause is associated with an increased risk for the development of certain diseases, including osteoporosis and heart disease. Sexual drive and function may also be affected.
